FAR Artist Limited Edition Series
Tacita Dean

€450.00

Tacita Dean (Canterbury, UK, 1965) was invited to hold the XX Edition of the Artists' Research Laboratory (CSAV). She studied at the Falmouth School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art before moving to live and work in Berlin in 2000. Tacita Dean’s practice combines the hand of the artist with historical elements, resulting in works that suggest a joining together of the past and the future. Her body of work is an elegy to slowness: the landscapes in her photographs and the subjects of her films represent allegories of time and memory.

This special edition of eight pockets in silk is inspired by the stills of Dean’s film Buon Fresco (2014). The images are details of the cycle of frescos realized by Giotto in the Basilica of Saint Francis D’Assisi in 1296. The film was commissioned by the Spanish curator and art historian Gloria Moure to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the pilgrimage of Saint Francis at Santiago de Compostela.
