This book grew out of the Antonio Ratti Foundation XXIX CSAV - Artists' Research Laboratory held in Como between the 30 June and the 25 July 2025 under Ed Atkins' leadership.

Titled Low Realisms the workshop included 17 younger artists from many different parts of the world. Together, guided by Atkins' deep insights and generosity, the participant artists explored intertwined notions of realism and artificiality, narrative depth versus impoverishment, drama and joyfulness, through lecturers, reading, discussions, film screenings and informal encounters.

Lo is the continuation of this research into what an expanded conception of digital and low realism may entail.
