Dora Stiefelmeier was born in Zurich in 1943. She lives and works in Rome. She completed studies in sociology at the University of Berna, of Berlin (F.U.) and in Paris, she graduated from Sorbonne University in 1967. Parallel to her studies, she carried on theatrical activities in Paris and in Tunisia. In 1966, she founded the ”Café Théatre de l'Odéon” in Paris. From 1969 to 1971, she collaborated with Centro di Documentazione I.D.O.C. of II Vatical Council in Rome and between 1972 and 1973 with Lelio Basso. In 1975, she was the co-founder of Nuova DWF – Feminist studies, where she was involved as editor until 1979. Since 1979, she began to collaborate with Galleria Pieroni, becoming co-owner in 1988. In 1991, Zerynthia Associazione per l'Arte Contemporanea was created, Dora Stiefelmeier is a founding member and artistic director. From 1998 to 2002, together with Mario Pieroni, she is the advisor of the Académie de France à Rome. Since 2001, she is part of the Board of Trustees of Dena Foundation of Contemporary Art, New York. From 2003 to 2005, she was an advisor for contemporary art for the Autorità Portuale of Civitavecchia. In 2001 RAM - radioartemobile was founded, a project conceived and realized by Zerynthia Associazione per l'Arte Contemporanea as a prototype of a virtual space dedicated to the development of sound research that recognizes the radio as an autonomous artistic space. Since 2005, RAM radioartemobile has proposed installation works in several spaces and curated international shows. In 2008, the web radio RAM LIVE was created. In 2013, Dora Stiefelmeier received the award from the President of the Republic as 'Commendatore' of Italy. Since 2015, she is president of RAM radioartemobile.
