Hans Ulrich Obrist reviews different types of exhibitions, starting with formats that investigate museum spaces, such as Migrateurs, with works displayed on the facade, at the entrance, and in the offices of the Musée d‘Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, to exhibitions organized in stores, storefronts, streets, and hotels. Famous, for example, is his first exhibition World Soup (The Kitchen Show), organized in the kitchen of an apartment, and Hotel Show, a constantly changing exhibition created inside a hotel room.

Hans Ulrich Obrist is artistic director of the Serpentine Galleries in London. Previously, he was curator of the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris. Since his first exhibition World Soup (The Kitchen Show) in 1991, he has curated more than 350 exhibitions, such as the Do It series (since 1993, ongoing), Take Me (I’m Yours) (London 1995, Paris 2015, New York 2016, and Milan 2017), and the Swiss Pavilion at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale (2014). Obrist was also co-curator of the Cities on The Move series (1996–2000), Laboratorium (1999), the group exhibition-work Il Tempo del Postino in Manchester (2007) and Basel (2009), and The 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 Rooms series (2011–2015). Obrist’s most recent exhibitions include Enzo Mari at the Milan Triennale (2020). In 2011 Obrist received the CCS Bard Award for Curatorial Excellence and in 2015 the International Folkwang Award.
